At least a year before a bunch of Paris Hilton wannabes were shooting a video somewhere in Hollywood in 2005, a mastermind called Cee-Lo was crafting this song originally sung by Tori Alamaze who started out as a make-up artist for acts like Outkast, TLC, Busta Rhymes and other groups. Released as a white label promo by Rockhill Productions and later signed to Universal who then re-released it, "Don't Cha" was then a fresh breath of air in modern r'n'b with its house breaks and some undercover (male) laughter hidden in the vocal track. As so often in the music biz, the song never created any buzz even though some hardcore r'n'b fans such as myself were playing it.
