N Love With My Money

Southern rap wasn't always about laffy taffy or wobble wobble. It was genuinely about love, money and getting Paid In Full.

Sex Faces

Bun B live in Helsinki tonight. They were supposed to bring 'Face as well but he cancelled (roughly 50% of all rap gigs announced in Finland get cancelled, a rather strange tendency). Anyway here we have a great promo ep from 1998 and it's brilliant opening track - Sex (Fuck?) Faces.

Scarface feat. Too Short, Devin & Tela - Sex Faces

EDIT: Get the dirty version - Fuck Faces - here.

Kanye vs. MGMT

Deejays Mighty Mi and Steve1der deliver a solid electronic/rap blend which is well worth mentioning.

Rap Classique tonight

Yours truly has brushed dust off stacks of some best rap classics ever. Below is one of them with a debut verse from the illmatic era Nasty Nas. This is how we are going to kick it tonight from the 80s to 2000s, classic material, old school/new school. Word to 90DL.

Sauce Money

Back from the hiatus. One of my favorite rappers from back in the day (circa 2000), Sauce Money, is back with a single "Get That Paper" that has him rhyming over a classic 7th Wonder break. This is the remix with Jada to the muah and Bussabus.

It's a friday night

and while everybody is chillin' - DJ K2 is rocking two spots - an around-the-midnight house/classic rap and r&b set at Redrum

and later same night some newer sounds at Den Kungliga Klubben

This 1990 classic by Alex Neri and Marco Adry will probably get play in both sets just because italians did it better:

Ecstasy - This Is My House (Maxi version)

Three 6 Mafia

New Three 6 Mafia. To me it sounds a little too poppy. But it should do well in the clubs. And as a bonus I throw a song from the 2000 album When The Smoke Clears "I'm So..."

Three 6 Mafia - Lolli Lolli (Pop That body)

LMFAO back with their rework of Clumsy remix now known as Girl Can't Help It which now contains references to both computers and R.Kelly. Shout out to Red Foo. 'Network is with you guys.

For those about to rock (Part 2)

Too many bullshit posts lately I figured. Hip hop is not dead is what some say. As usual they are right and I am wrong. As wrong as can be. R.Kelly still raps better than Nelly. Here's an essential 3pac of hot right now rap (even though Party Like A Rock Star is kinda old already, I still thought it would fit this post). Kanye's new album is going to be weak and do I even have to mention Curtis "Curtis" Jackson's upcoming thrash so please pay attention to the Kells song from the album of the year - Double Up. Get with the movement.

Doom's day

The hype is real. This is the most anticipated Nike SB Dunk High of the year. I think you can consider yourself successful in life when you have your own SB Dunk. De La Soul can. And now even MF Doom. I don't usually do this (in R.Kelly voice) but these were a must-have. Real deejays buy doubles, freaks like me get 4 pairs.

MF Doom - Dead Bent

For those about to rock

I Salute you. Back from another weekend, alive! Totally awesome! I dedicate this post to Nasty Suicide, nowadays known as Jan Stenfors, Finland's own OG rock n roll dude, dude. In high school one of my friends' name was also Jan Stenfors. He used to listen to Rattus, Terveet Kadet and all that good shit. Therefore there's a new blog called Gasoline in the links section. Check it out if you're into punk and hc.

Pori Jazz 2007

Pori Jazz and Bar Kino to be exact on the menu tonight. The festival was headlined by The Roots yesterday and today by Steely Dan who imo have seen their best days. To my knowledge no one of my friends went to the festival this year as there nothing interesting. Comment if you disagree. To the rescue! I will be cooking tonight with my right hand man, the young - not yung DJ Mista-S. Expect to hear this as a MSTRKRFT remix or:

Don Pablo's Animals - Venus (Piano mix)
